2. Christening Candle
The christening candle, known as the lambatha, symbolises the light of Christ.
Traditionally white, candles can be decorated with ribbons, lace, crosses or personalised details.
From traditional designs to modern ribbed candles, there are plenty of beautiful options to choose from.
3. Cross Necklace
The christening cross is traditionally gifted by the godparent and represents the child's Christian faith.
4. Christening Outfit
After the baptism, the child is dressed in new clothing, traditionally white, symbolising purity and new life in Christ.
For boys: A romper or shirt and shorts/trousers, with optional vest or jacket.
For girls: A christening dress or gown, with optional matching accessories.
Ivory and soft neutral tones are also popular choices, although it's best to confirm any church requirements.
5. Shoes & Accessories
Complete the outfit with christening shoes, socks and any coordinating accessories.
For girls, this might include a headband or bonnet, while boys may wear a bow tie, hat or suspenders.
Remember, not every accessory is essential!
